EMT Gregory Hodge(FDNY)

A veteran EMT has died from coronavirus, the FDNY announced.

Gregory Hodge, 59, served the city for 24 years and worked at Ground Zero as part of the department's search efforts after the 9/11 terror attack. In late 2016 he was assigned to New York City Emergency Management, where as watch commander he monitored radio frequencies and weather forecasts.

"EMT Hodge was a skilled first responder who provided outstanding emergency medical care to thousands of New Yorkers," FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said. "This pandemic has impacted our department at every level, especially our EMS members who are responding to more medical calls than ever before. Now, they will continue to bravely answer those calls with even heavier hearts, having lost one of their fellow EMTs to COVID-19."
